Barbara Harrelson

Barbara Harrelson is the reason why De Anza has a Medical Lab Technician program since 2004. Barbara recognized the need for skilled medical technicians and her efforts resulted in a large grant to support the program’s establishment. Barbara was a leader within the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California and among the hospitals and community organizations she served. After her untimely passing in 2006, the Hospital Council, through the Healthcare Foundation, established the Barbara Harrelson Health Sciences Scholarship in honor of her memory and the reputation she earned for workforce issues. In 2018, the Hospital Council generously donated the endowment to De Anza for the purpose in supporting scholarships for students enrolled in the Medical Lab Technician program.
