Central Services Classifed Senate

Central Services Classifed Senate

The function of the Central Services Senate to participate in the governance of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District; to actively collect, evaluate, and disseminate information for the classified staff; and to represent the collective interest of the classified staff before or on any governance or committee. The Central Services Classified Senate works annually to solicit donations to make this scholarship possible. Donations are made by classified staff as well as administrators.

The Central Services Senate dedicated the 2016/2017 scholarships to Leo Contreras, who worked tirelessly for 42 years in Plant Services at Foothill-De Anza. With his sudden passing in 2016, staff and faculty were deeply saddened, as almost everyone had been touched by Leo’s wonderful spirit. Leo was featured at District Opening Day in 2015 for being Foothill-De Anza’s classified professional with the greatest years of service. When asked to share his favorite memory over his 41-year career, he said: "The memory I hold most dear is saying a few words at a co-worker’s retirement celebration and sharing with everyone in attendance that he was a loved one, like a father to me.”
