Galina Family

A generous bequest from the Seymour Galina and Diane Louise Galina Family Trust, totaling nearly $750,000, provides scholarships in perpetuity to students studying health and veterinary sciences at both Foothill and De Anza colleges. Nanci Mason, a Foothill College alumna, trustee of the Galina bequest and was a close friend with Diane Galina who, she says, was like a second mother to her. “Diane cared deeply about education, children, and animals,” says Nanci. “She was a strict, no-nonsense grammar-school teacher who wanted only the best for her students.” The Galinas were active Los Altos residents who enjoyed traveling to spots off the beaten path. “Diane always had a Benji-type,fluffy dog at her side,” says Nanci. “She would be proud toknow that her and Sy’s estate will help secure the future for countless Foothill and De Anza students as well as provide the community with well educated healthcare professionals.”
