De Anza - Shirley Kawazoe Memorial APASA Scholarship
Description:
This award recognizes students who demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to community service, promoting understanding across cultural differences, and advocating for social justice in the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) communities.
Eligibility requirements at the time of submission–
Additional Information:
1) The award recipient will be expected to attend an APASA-sponsored recognition event planned in Spring 2026. Event date and details will be provided to recipients upon notification of award.
2) Applicant may NOT have previously received an APASA scholarship.
3) Open to all students regardless of ethnic background or immigration status.

- Are you currently enrolled in 8 quarter units at De Anza College?
- Is your cumulative GPA at De Anza at least a 3.0?
- In addition to the “My Story” essay, write an additional one-page essay, which describes A) Your leadership in or experience fostering cross-cultural awareness or promoting social justice in service to APIDA communities AND B) how your activism, community organizing, or social justice activities have affected your educational and/or career goals.
