Peninsula Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC-CA) Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the Peninsula Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies of California, and is for students interested in the fields of Civil Engineering or Land Surveying. All applicants will receive a written response (by mail or email) sent no later than June 20, 2018. The scholarship recipient(s) will be invited to the Chapter’s July 2018 monthly luncheon meeting to receive the scholarship. The number of scholarships will vary depending upon the number of responses. The minimum award will be $2,500. Past recipients are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, you must:

  1. Be a resident of San Mateo County.
  2. Be enrolled at a community college (Foothill College, Cañada College, Skyline College, College of San Mateo, Evergreen Valley College, etc), a California State University (CSU East Bay, CSU Sacramento, etc.) or University of California System (UC Davis, UC San Diego, etc.).
  3. Have an interest in civil engineering or land surveying based on courses taken in the fields of Civil Engineering or Land Surveying.
  4. Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (4.0 basis) through Fall 2017.

Application Deadline: May 18, 2018 (Postmarking)

Steps to Apply:
Students interested in this scholarship should submit an application letter to Brian Scott, BKF Engineers, 255 Shoreline Drive, Suite 200, Redwood City, CA 94065. The letter should not be more than two pages long and must be postmarked no later than May 18, 2018. No applications will be accepted with a postmark after that date. The application letter should include the following information:

  1. Name, address, local phone number and email address.
  2. A listing of the Engineering and Land Surveying classes you have completed. You must include an original “sealed” transcript of your FALL 2017 final grades. Your application will not be accepted without a transcript.
  3. A short narrative of your career goals that may include future education and employment goals.
  4. A listing of your school activities, extra-curricular activities, hobbies or special interests.
  5. Describe your work experience, including companies worked for and duties performed. Previous Engineering or Surveying experience is helpful, but not required.
  6. Describe your financial need and how you would use this scholarship. Please indicate if you are interested in summer or part-time employment to supplement the scholarship.
