De Anza Juan and Carmen Miner Family Scholarship

Created in loving memory of Juan and Carmen Miner and established by Foothill-De Anza Community College Chancellor Judy C. Miner, this scholarship is intended to acknowledge students who have shown passion for their education and persevered having overcome obstacles such as being first in their family to go to college, financial hardships, being a single parent, living with a disability, etc. With more than 40 years as an educator, Chancellor Miner is a tireless advocate of higher education and community colleges.

To qualify for this Opportunity, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at the time of application and disbursement.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Applicant must have filed a current academic year’s financial aid application (the FAFSA at for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens, or the California Dream Act Application at for undocumented students who qualify for AB540 status) at least one week prior to the scholarship application deadline by 4:00pm. NOTE: Undocumented students who do not qualify for AB540 status should contact the Financial Aid Office for guidance about completing a financial aid application.
  • Demonstrate your determination in achieving your educational goals in your personal “My Story” essay as part of the application.
