De Anza - Shirley Kawazoe Memorial APASA Scholarship

This award recognizes students who demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to community service, promoting understanding across cultural differences, and advocating for social justice in the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) communities.

Eligibility requirements-

At the time of submission: MUST have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, successfully completed a minimum of 12 quarter units, and be currently enrolled in at least 8 quarter units Must provide evidence of community service and leadership, through volunteer (non-paid) activities either on-campus or in the broader APIDA community within the past 2 years. Must complete the supplemental questions. Applicant may NOT have previously received this scholarship.

Additional Information:

1) Financial need will be considered as a tiebreaker among otherwise equal top candidates

2) Scholarship is open to ALL students regardless of ethnic identity, racial identity, or immigration status

3) Award recipient will be expected to attend an APASA-sponsored recognition event planned in Spring 2022. Details will be provided to recipients as the event date approaches
