SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR NAVY or MARINE CORPS VETERAN

The Alan Robert and Veronica Lenox Cotariu Memorial Scholarship Committee is seeking a
Navy or Marine Corps active duty service member or veteran who is pursuing their first
bachelor’s degree, to present as our candidate for this highly-competitive scholarship.
The specific criteria and requirements are listed below.

The successful candidate is:
● A Navy or Marine Corps active duty service member or veteran.
● Currently enrolled and pursuing their first bachelor-level degree program at an
accredited college or university.
● Has completed a minimum of 30 semester hours by the application deadline.
● Has a minimum 2.5 gpa.
The Cotariu Memorial Scholarship is a one-time award (not renewable) of $1500 to be
used for tuition, books, and or fees. This is not a need-based scholarship and can be used
in conjunction with the GI Bill. The funds will be deposited directly into the student
account of the recipient and are intended for the 2024-2025 school year.

Completed applications are due no later than 5 April 2024.

A completed application packet will include:
● The completed application form.
● A copy of the student’s academic transcripts.
● Proof of Honorable Discharge (can be found at the bottom of DD-214-long form)
or a statement of good standing from the command – social security number
blocked out.
● Three recommendations:
o At least one recommendation should be from an academic advisor or
professor.
o At least one recommendation should be from a professional associate,
preferably from the military chain of command.
An interview for each finalist will be scheduled after the close of the application period.
