Foothill Lani Ritchey Memorial Scholarship for Veterinary Technology Students

Description & Purpose:
In loving memory of Lani Ritchey, this scholarship is offered to veterinary technology students enrolled at Foothill.

Lani Ritchey was the cofounder of the California Chins Chinchilla Rescue organization, a small group of volunteers who are dedicated to rescuing and finding homes for chinchillas. Lani was passionate animal lover with years of experience working with horses and dogs, but later in her life, chinchillas captured her heart. Chinchillas became very popular as pets, especially among high tech employees. As a result, she saw a need for finding chinchilla homes after they became popular in during the early 2000s. She cofounded the rescue organization and fostered hundreds of chinchillas. This scholarship is made possible by the California Chins Chinchilla Rescue Organization (http://www.chinchillarescue.org) and is for those veterinary technology students who envision their lives caring for animals, just like Lani.
