Foothill Yelena Chianurov Scholarship Endowment for Dental Hygienists

Dr. Jan Gabus has practiced dentistry for more than 36 years in Menlo Park. He retired in March 2018 and established a scholarship in honor of his dental hygienist, Yelena Chianurov, who has so capably taken care of his patients for the past 15 years.

Dr. Gabus recognizes the struggle of immigrants and those who are first generation in obtaining their college education. This scholarship is intended for those immigrant/first generation students who are pursuing their dental hygiene degrees.
Criteria:
1) Must be enrolled in Foothill’s Dental Hygiene program
2) Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5
3) Must demonstrate financial need
4) Must answer this short essay question: Describe the struggles of either yourself, a family member, or friend, of being an immigrant/first generation in the United States and how this has affected your path to a college education.
