Scholarship Amount
Up to $6,000 (up to $18,000 over three years)
Background

This scholarship is funded by The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley (HFSV) who is dedicated to empowering the lives and futures of Latinos in Silicon Valley through community philanthropy, investment in educational excellence, leadership development, and the convening and engaging of the region’s dynamic Hispanic community.

The Latinos in Technology Initiative was established by the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, as a means to meaningfully increase the number of Latino professionals pursuing successful STEM careers. The Latinos in Technology Initiative is more than just a scholarship program, it is a transformative initiative that addresses and bridges the gap between Latino representation in the STEM workforce.

The Latinos in Technology Initiative supports Latino STEM college students in 3 ways:

Financial. We financially support third and fourth-year undergraduate Latino students who have declared a major in a STEM-related field at a 4-year university with a scholarship of up to $6,000 per year, renewable for up to 3 years, for a total of up to $18,000. Please note, the scholarship is strictly for funding undergraduate education; any remaining funds from renewals cannot be applied toward graduate studies. Professional Development. Latinos in Technology scholars have the opportunity to participate in programs such as the Conexiones Mentorship Program, STEM company tours, workshops, networking events, and other career prep and professional skill building workshops to prepare them for a successful transition into the STEM workforce. Internship Access. We actively work to pipeline our scholars into summer internship programs with our investors and corporate partners, bridging the gap between education and employment.

As a part of the scholarship, awardees will have opportunities to network with other students and professionals in the field and will be invited to a Welcome Orientation and to other events hosted by the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, including the Hispanic Foundation Ball.
