Foothill Clifford Beamer Endowed Scholarship for Physics Students

Clifford Beamer was an Electronics/Physics Technician for the Physical Sciences and Mathematics Division at Foothill College from March of 1982 until his retirement in the summer of 2003. Clifford’s love of his job was matched by his devotion to the students at Foothill who Clifford admired for persevering and overcoming obstacles to pursuing their education in the sciences, particularly physics. By supporting and encouraging the students’ passions and goals, Clifford wanted to help Foothill students create a brighter and happier future for themselves. With the creation of this scholarship, Clifford’s family wants to extend the devotion of their father to Foothill College students by offering a scholarship which will validate the students’ educational goals and successes.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Applicant must be enrolled in at least 6 units at Foothill College at the time of the scholarship deadline and disbursement of scholarship funds.

2. Applicant’s cumulative Foothill GPA must be 2.50 or higher.

3. Applicant must have successfully completed at least two Foothill Physics classes or enrolled in one currently and plan to complete the second by end of the academic year.

4. Applicant must demonstrate financial need. Applicant must file a current school year’s financial aid application (the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens, or the California Dream Act Application at https://dream.csac.ca.gov for undocumented students who qualify for AB 540 status) at least one week prior to the scholarship application deadline by 4:00 pm. NOTE: Undocumented students who do not qualify for AB 540 status should contact the Financial Aid office for guidance about completing a financial aid application.

Special Instructions:
1. In your My Story essay which is part of the general scholarship application, describe an obstacle or hardship you have had to overcome, how you overcame that challenge, your future plans for education and your career aspirations.
